Seal just put out his new cd “Soul” and all I can say is RAWWWWR.
The man’s voice is just delicious, both smooth and raspy at the same time and he can bring a song that melts your heart. LOVE!
This cd is something totally different, a collection of covers of some of the great R&B hits from classics like Ben E. King, Sam Cooke and The Blue Notes.
If you enjoy a good reincarnation of a song then you’re going to enjoy this cd. If you like Seal you’re going to find it a departure from his standard sound, but still uniquely HIM.
If you loathe cover songs, RUN NOW!
I personally loved the majority of songs on this disc….there are a few that stand out, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and “I’m Still In Love With You” are melty, lovey songs that make you want to go participate in an interlude…you know the kind I’m talking about.
WIN WIN WIN
Would you like to take your own free copy of Seal’s Soul to love and cuddle and call your very own? I (courtesy of the ever awesome One2One Network) can make that happen!
And what about one of these?

If Sarah McLachlan and Martina McBride’s voices had a baby, I imagine it would sound like Linda Eder. A voice rich and sultry, mixing a blend of contemporary adult and that slight-crossover-country sound that appeals across the board.
Her lyrics are strong and positive, songs about love, strength, finding one’s self. Each song on her “The Other Side of Me” cd is unique and mood altering. Whether you are looking for a song to fit a bright afternoon drive in a convertible or a rainy day in a quiet room, Linda provides them all. However, I don’t have moments like that, so it works that her music is fabulous to just spark on in the car, we can sing (not well, but volume makes up for tune, right?) along and be relaxed by her soothing voice.
Linda’s Broadway background made me think that her music might be out of my normal taste, but this CD with it’s pop/country sound that gives a peek into the true powerhouse range of her voice and songwriting yet is radio audience friendly. (You can give her sound a teeny sample here)
If I’m not introducing you to anything new and you’ve been a Linda Eder fan for eons…which would show how much smarter than me you are…make sure to check out the tour dates she has scheduled.
WIN WIN WIN!
I’m thrilled to get to share Linda’s music with you and to offer you the opportunity to win an autographed “The Other Side of Me” CD as well as an autographed T-shirt.
How to win:
1. Sign up for my RSS feed or RSS email notices and leave me a comment to know
2. Leave a comment telling me about a song that has swept you away
3. Twitter about the contest
4. Tell a friend about the contest and have them leave a comment dropping your name (that counts as a entry for you and your friend)
You can do as many or all of these as you’d like, and as many times as you’d like (daily) but make sure you leave separate comment entries for each thing you do.
Contest ends Thursday, November 20 at midnight EST.
A huge thank you to One2One for bring Linda’s music into my life and the chance to share it with you.
**check back, because there’s another awesome music giveaway coming soon!
If you asked Nathaniel what he wants for his birthday or Christmas, the answer reliably and consistantly comes back that he’d like a cell phone.
Why? I’m not entirely sure. He doesn’t call anyone from our house landline, he doesn’t text anyone, he doesn’t use the email account I set up for him, I’m not sure who all these sudden burning calls are going to be made to.
But he wants one.
And I bleed out of my heart to make the happy for my kids. I’m so weak.
I do know that I love my phone, the convenience of it makes it hard to remember a time when I didn’t have one. It took Peter’s car breaking down on the side of the interstate, in the dark, in bad weather for us to make that decision. We’ve never gone without since.
So, I’m considering it. I’m thinking that he could be responsible for it and follow some strictly set up Rules of the Ring.
In looking at different options, I was given the chance to check out Kajeet, a cell phone company for kids and parents.
There were things I wanted in the phone service I would get for Nathaniel.
I’m not worried about having fun games or cool ring tones.
Kajeet has a Time Manager that allows you to set up when the phone can be used…say, if you don’t want to worry about your kid texting during science class, you can make it so. OH THE POWER!
You can set it up to bill separately! Get this: you can have Kaeet bill you for calls to parents, grandparents or whoever, and have it bill your child for calls to friends or text messages. Making them responsible for how they chose to utilize their phone time.
They also have a fantastic feature that gives you the capability to block any incoming calls or texts that you don’t want.
As for the GPS, Kajeet has a web-based service to find your kid’s phone. Anytime, anywhere, and you can even have it programmed to alert you at a scheduled time of the day.
Kajeet’s coverage is on Sprint’s PCS network, so there’s not a whole lot of worry about coverage. The phones they have available aren’t kiddy phones, they have a wide variety of flip phones, picture phones and phones with QWERTY keyboards.
I think Nathaniel’s going to be pretty happy with either his Christmas or birthday present this year. I also think I’m going to be pretty satisfied with what I get out of it too.
**And as a special offer to you: Kajeet is going to give all my readers a special $10 airtime bonus with the purchase and activation of a Kajeet handset. Just use the code “Bonus10″
There’s about a thousand reasons why this review was a perfect choice for me, but here are the top 5.
1. I love giving cards, I love the personal touch of mailing a card and I enjoy knowing that someone out there will be smiling when they receive that special note in their mailbox.
2. I am lazy.
3. I am falling in love with contests and being able to give you stuff!
Oh wait…no, that’s a pretty important one and probably should be on there twice.
I’ll add one more just for fun.
6. I have the world’s worst hand-writing.
Tiny Prints sent me a package of sample cards to check out and I was WOWED by the quality of the cards and the beautiful designs, plus they have a ton of options to make then uniquely yours. I do a lot of ruining making my own cards, especially my thank-you and Christmas cards, but they’re not anywhere near as card-like stylish as what you get when you personalize at Tiny Prints. Plus, my printer HATES paper that remotely resembles card stock and I spent beau coup bucks last Christmas trying to forcefeed the paper through and they came out all crooked and jacked up anyways and I was all, “Yeah. LOVE the holidays.” And I ran out of time and had to print them on regular paper which looked retarded and cheap.
You know what I love about these thank you cards? They force you find what made that gift uniquely special and appreciated.Does this not just SCREAM holiday goodness to you?? So proud, just so so proud.
Now, on to the CONTEST portion of our day!
Go to their holiday card selection and browse for your favorite 2008 holiday design and save your favorite 2008 design in “your account”, then make sure to comment on this post with a link to your favorite design. ← Don’t forget to leave me your email address so that the winner (you) can be alerted to your winnerness.
And what happens next?
On September 30th, a random winner from the comments will be picked for a $50 gift certificate for whatever snags your fancy at Tiny Prints.
**If ya’ll participate I can win a $50 gift certificate too and someone has a 5th birthday coming up in December and I already have the birthday invites picked out and BOY would $50 come in handy in ordering them.
My super secret restaurant tools. This is my gift to you.
This “Doodles” book is awesome. I bought it and it’s sister “Scribbles” because my kids are always “what should I draw now, mom?” This isn’t your ordinary coloring book, it really inspires their creativity and gives them idea seeds to start with.
Each page gives some starter art and directions. For example, a teeter-totter is pre-drawn with the directions to draw something heavy on each side OR pictures of two grown ups with the suggestion to create children to go with the adults. It just gives them a little artistic push and then they can run with it.
**Funny note about my kids…this page says “Whoever says the saddest thing wins”. Nathaniel’s quote for the girl is “I’m a loser”…quote for boy is “I am an idiot and my only friend is a rock”.
These books stay in my car for drives, dining out, or any times they need to have something occupy their hands and minds….which is ALWAYS! They are captivating and there are age appropriate pictures throughout…from my 4 y.o. to my 10 y.o.
Doodles and Scribbles include over 300 pages of drawing space. They are HUGE! We’ve had ours for about 5 months and are still working on it. I bought mine at Barnes and Noble, but they are available at Borders and Amazon.com (a little cheaper here) too.
GO! Create! Keep their minds buzzing and their hands busy.
I just found this website www.Restaurant.com where you can purchase $25 gift certificates for $10. Now, I got out my handy dandy calculator because I suck at math I wanted to be sure what that the exact savings were. That’s 60% off!!!
What you do is go to the website, you pick your area and it will give you a listing of restaurants that participate in the program. You purchase your gift certificates and then you can print them right out and go eat.
**Most restaurants do put on an automatic 18% gratuity if you use these gift certificates, but were you planning to not tip? You’re still saving a ton of money!
**Always take into consideration that you might want to call and confirm with a restaurant’s management that they are still accepting the gift certificate program.
So, take advantage of this chance, they have a limited number of gift certificates for each restaurant. If you use it, please come back and let me know how it went, I hate when you go into place and they don’t want to use your coupons or discounts….cause I IZ cheap!
Any products that are reviewed on this site are either purchased by me or have been provided by the manufacturing company.
I won't tell you anything but my opinion of the products and you may stand a really good chance of winning anything I am given as a sample in upcoming contests.
Dear PR Person/Company Owner,
Here are some of my limitations:
1. I will only review things that are pertinent to my life, so don't send me samples of motor oil or size 4 clothing. Although, if you do want to send those things, I can use them as giveaways, but I won't be able to give a coherent review.
2. If you do want me to review something, you have to send me a sample because I won't give an opinion of something I haven't tried. I WILL not post your press release, so save us both some time on that one.
3. If you'd like to place an ad on my site, pay for product placement, offer me wads of cash for doing very little....feel FREE!
4. I will give an honest opinion of all products, so make sure it's a good one!
If you'd like to contact me about a review of your product, you can also contact me at Anissa.Mayhew(at)gmail(dot)com.
