***Updated to announce winner by Random.com is #10 Belinda. Belinda has 48 hours to respond by email or a new winner will be pulled. Thank you all for entering, I sure appreciate your participation. I hope that you all have a chance to use Norton’s awesome software and come back for the next contest.*
Norton software is pretty much synonymous with computer/internet security…and there is nothing I want safe more than my children.
I was once helping Nathaniel Google information for a project on Indian villages and one seemingly innocent click led us to a nasty porn site. I nearly knocked him out slapping my hand over his eyes as quickly as I could. I couldn’t believe it and was thoroughly horrified.
Norton has a fix for this kind of thing…built-in safety for YOUR family with Norton Online Family. We have two ancient desktop pc’s for our girls and a laptop for our son and there’s a lot of setup to cover every computer, but OH SO worth it.
Installing the program on their computers allows me to have one web interface that I can use to control all their web activity: websites, emails, IM’s, social media, and stuff they’re not even trying yet. I can see what they’ve been to, if they’ve tried to access inappropriate things and I can set up each child with different access according to age and maturity.

This past weekend, I was out of town at a conference and I was able to see what was going with my kids and their computer use…which, as far as I’m concerned, the more aware I am regarding their usage, the safer they are.
If you’d like to start keeping your family safe, you can download the Norton software and use promo code: ACC10. You won’t regret it.

If you asked Nathaniel what he wants for his birthday or Christmas, the answer reliably and consistantly comes back that he’d like a cell phone.

Why? I’m not entirely sure. He doesn’t call anyone from our house landline, he doesn’t text anyone, he doesn’t use the email account I set up for him, I’m not sure who all these sudden burning calls are going to be made to.
But he wants one.
And I bleed out of my heart to make the happy for my kids. I’m so weak.
I do know that I love my phone, the convenience of it makes it hard to remember a time when I didn’t have one. It took Peter’s car breaking down on the side of the interstate, in the dark, in bad weather for us to make that decision. We’ve never gone without since.
So, I’m considering it. I’m thinking that he could be responsible for it and follow some strictly set up Rules of the Ring.
In looking at different options, I was given the chance to check out Kajeet, a cell phone company for kids and parents.
There were things I wanted in the phone service I would get for Nathaniel.
I’m not worried about having fun games or cool ring tones.
I want control over who he’s calling.
When he’s calling.
And who calls him.
I want a GPS locator that I can access at any time, non-reliant on the phone company to track it for me.
Kajeet offers all of these features. JOY!
Kajeet has a Time Manager that allows you to set up when the phone can be used…say, if you don’t want to worry about your kid texting during science class, you can make it so. OH THE POWER!
You can set it up to bill separately! Get this: you can have Kaeet bill you for calls to parents, grandparents or whoever, and have it bill your child for calls to friends or text messages. Making them responsible for how they chose to utilize their phone time.
They also have a fantastic feature that gives you the capability to block any incoming calls or texts that you don’t want.
As for the GPS, Kajeet has a web-based service to find your kid’s phone. Anytime, anywhere, and you can even have it programmed to alert you at a scheduled time of the day.
Kajeet’s coverage is on Sprint’s PCS network, so there’s not a whole lot of worry about coverage. The phones they have available aren’t kiddy phones, they have a wide variety of flip phones, picture phones and phones with QWERTY keyboards.
I think Nathaniel’s going to be pretty happy with either his Christmas or birthday present this year. I also think I’m going to be pretty satisfied with what I get out of it too.
**And as a special offer to you: Kajeet is going to give all my readers a special $10 airtime bonus with the purchase and activation of a Kajeet handset. Just use the code “Bonus10″

and it’s a GOOD one!

I just found this website www.Restaurant.com where you can purchase $25 gift certificates for $10. Now, I got out my handy dandy calculator because I suck at math I wanted to be sure what that the exact savings were. That’s 60% off!!!
What you do is go to the website, you pick your area and it will give you a listing of restaurants that participate in the program. You purchase your gift certificates and then you can print them right out and go eat.
**Most restaurants do put on an automatic 18% gratuity if you use these gift certificates, but were you planning to not tip? You’re still saving a ton of money!
**Always take into consideration that you might want to call and confirm with a restaurant’s management that they are still accepting the gift certificate program.
So, take advantage of this chance, they have a limited number of gift certificates for each restaurant. If you use it, please come back and let me know how it went, I hate when you go into place and they don’t want to use your coupons or discounts….cause I IZ cheap!
**Extra savings right now: Now take 60% off $25 Gift Certificates. Pay $4 when you use the code LABOR. Valid 8/26/08 through 8/31/08.
