“This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Capri-Sun.”
7:00 AM – start getting kids out of bed
7:15 AM – start hollering because kids either aren’t out of bed yet or are moving at a snail’s pace
7:30 AM – Activating the Mayhew Law of Leaving: The faster you need to get somewhere, the more likely the kids are to find eleventy-billion ways to putz around.
7:45 AM – start doing the last minute haranguing about shoes and confirmations that teeth have been brushed and backpacks are packed and are, in fact, on the backs.
7:55 AM – begin herding children out the door, knowing that one of them will freak out halfway down the driveway about something they’ve forgotten.
8:00 AM – breathe a sigh of relief that we are actually going to be at school on time!
8:01 AM – realize that no one ate a decent breakfast.
FAIL!
As much as I know the tried and true belief that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, my kids are much like me and just aren’t that into eating a big meal first thing in the morning. We rush around trying to get out the door and a breakfast including more than a handful of fruit or a breakfast bar is beyond our reach.
As I am always on the lookout for a way to make the morning scramble easier on all of us, I jumped on the chance to check out a new product, Capri-Sun Sunrise, a new wholesome morning drink for kids.
Capri-Sun is a brand well known in my house, something I know my kids enjoy and I can trust for taste and value. Finding out that they provide a good source of calcium, 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C in the easy-on-the-go pouch just really made it a no-brainer.
So, now I don’t feel like such a breakfast failure knowing that I’m providing something that’s quick and easy they can grab every morning, better preparing them for the day.
If you’re one of those moms that gets up an hour early to make some muffins from scratch and whose kids look confused at the thought of a Pop Tart, this may not be something relevant to you.
However, if you (like me) struggle to get your kids to even THINK about eating breakfast in the morning, let alone something that’s good for them, Capri-Sun Sunrise may be a shot for you to sneak in something a little healthier into their routine.

Time - there is never enough time. I go to bed each night with the awesome (albeit unrealistic) plan to get up early enough to scramble an egg, microwave a pancake…before I know it, we’re screaming out the door, jacket half on, hat backwards, dropping Cocoa Puffs down the steps.
NEVER enough time!

The greatest problem we have in the mornings are two little slow eaters. Popping a waffle in the toaster and pouring juice is easy, but getting them to eat more quickly is impossible. I’m not asking them to inhale their food, but something better than 20 minutes would be nice!

Slow poke eaters is the problem here too. We need more portable food that they can take on the road! Some mornings its a juice pack and a baggie of dry cereal! They don’t seem to care but did try to talk me into goldfish in a bag one morning!

Mornings are always hectic but it is important to always have a healthy breakfast in the morning because it is the most important meal of the day and it fuels you to get through the day ahead!
What were your morning rituals when you were a kid? When I was a kid I got myself ready (dressed, etc.) then ate breakfast, usually cold cereal and OJ and a multivitamin. I pretty much have the same routine now, except my mom doesn’t pour my cereal anymore.
What cool or wacky things did your parents do as you headed out into the world?
I don’t know if it was “cool” but I think it was a great idea that my mom gave me my own (Snoopy) alarm clock when I was 6. I was always responsible for my own getting up. I think that instilled some good life skills in me!
What do you do to start your family’s day off right?
I keep the TV turned off and try to make sure my kids have time to play before we head out the door to school. They always whine that they want more time to play, so the TV needs to stay off!

After your comment, Anissa, I am willing to try the new capri sun, and will look for it. My kids aren’t ones to eat in the morning either- even when I nag. Remember Charlie Brown’s teacher and mom? All me. I speak on frequencies they don’t even register. Anyway, I am interested in the product, but do want to check out the amount of sugar that is included with the vitamins.
Connie wrote @ April 30th, 2009 at 7:00 am
OK give me some of the drugs from that lady in the comment before me made. Her kids play in the morning? My kids fight in the morning, whine about who didn’t lift the lid or open his eyes before going pee….whine about no clothes to wear, who is sitting in his/her spot on the couch in front of the TV…..her kids play and get up with their own alarm clocks…srsly? I need some of that! And I can wash it all down with Capri sun Sunrise. Yum.

When my son was in traveling soccer (he was 12-16 then) he had to leave the bathroom door open in the mornings because he would seriously fall asleep in the shower. So that was ackward. Then we figured out loud music kept him awake, so my mornings included blaring alternative rock. Not a smooth good morning! He’s in his first year of college now. Not sure how he gets up, but he seems to be okay.

My struggle is trying to get my daughter to eat anything for breakfast. She wakes up not hungry at all, and just wants to go off without eating anything. I try to get her to eat a little cereal or toast, but it’s not very nutricious.
kathy wrote @ April 30th, 2009 at 11:49 am
I like the music idea in one of the comments! My 11 year old will dance to anything - my 13 year old is a slow eater. I do not allow the tv on till evening due to the distraction of it. The boys are really great about doing what needs to be done. I say time to eat and they eat. They also put all their dishes in the sink to help me out. Our golden retriever helps with the waking process in the mornings.
I have 2 of my grandchildren living with me and the biggest struggle use to be getting them to stop arguing over every little thing. Now I get them up at different times and that helped solve that problem. Now my struggle is getting my grandson to brush his teeth longer than 3 seconds.

Oh, man, breakfast.
My 9 y.o. is a picky eater. And on top of that, she changes her mind constantly about the things she *does* like.
So in the morning it’s always: “do you want a smoothie? do you want cereal? do you want oatmeal? yes? ok. no, we don’t have goat’s milk, we have almond milk and vanilla soy milk. You don’t like either? you had vanilla soy milk yesterday, but you don’t like it today?” And so on.
It’s exhausting. And time-consuming. Not my favorite way to start my day.
Luckily she is a lovely girl in all other regards

Great giveaway!
I dont have kids, but it is a hassle trying to get ready so quickly in the morning. I pack my lunch the night before and eat a quick breakfast.
My daughter is 2 and tiny. She still drinks a bottle in the morning so she can get some calories in her. Sometimes, about an hour after that bottle, she will eat some eggs (on the weekends, and only if we are eating them too) or some banana (don’t you wish they made small bananas for little kids? I do) - trying to get her to eat anything else is really difficult. She would really benefit from these so we can get her off of the bottle, but still have her dring something nutritious in the mornings, thanks!

My daughter is five and a dawdler. No matter how early she wakes up, she will string her morning routine along so that we have to rush out the door, dumping her breakfast into a baggie so she can eat in the car. Seriously, she can be up at 6am, dressed by 6:30 and still not have finished her breakfast by 7:45. It’s mystifying.

Breakfast and getting them ready used to be a big hassel, but, now that they are older it is sooo much easier. But, then I have two younger ones. Well, one and one that is due in a few weeks and the younger school days will start all over again. And to tell you the truth, I probably won’t be able to get it down this time either. lol.
Good thing, our school system has this wonderful free breakfast program, where everyone gets to eat for free. Or, I might be sunk. lol.
Bobbies last blog post..Feeling guilty…
I only have one child in school at the moment so our mornings aren’t usually too difficult.
But some mornings my daughter sleeps through her blaring alarm clock and we are rushing to get to school on time.
Breakfast is usually cereal or toast with peanut butter with turkey sausage and that is only after we have argued about what outfit she is going to wear for 10 minutes because my daughter is 8 and she would rather argue with me about clothes than anything else in the world
I’m really lucky insofar as most days my husband gets up with and feeds the kids. EXCEPT by the time I get up (a leisurely 730am), they’re almost in the black hole of prenap HELL. So, it’s not always so great.

We don’t have kids but still struggle with breakfast, lunch and getting out in time to get to work. One thing that we do that can help is to pre-pack most of your lunch and put them in the fridge on Sunday. That way each morning you only need to make a sandwich or throw in some chips or something and not make the entire lunch.
Thanks!

If ever we don’t have time to eat..the school now offers breakfast..so I use that as a back up plan! Sounds like I might have to add these Capri Suns to our bkfst pantry spot! Thanks!

When I was younger, we used to have one large lunch each day. Of course, my mom ran her business from home and all of the kids were home schooled. We all ate what mom and dad ate (depending on which house we were in): Cafe con leche and a bagel or toasted cuban bread. You need just enough food to keep the coffee from burning through the stomach.
I have never gotten into the habit of eating a large breakfast. If I have a large meal before noon, then I feel sick the rest of the day. I love breakfast food, though, and often have eggs and bacon later in the day.
The young are tough. Parents need to stop acting like their kids cannot take as much as adults. They are stronger in so many ways. This is evidenced by how well they handle the problems that tear their parents apart. But, I would agree that giving them a concentrated breakfast drink takes a load off of your mind for the rest of the day. You can then feed them pizza and ice cream and all those other things that are not yet attracted to their hips…*cries!*

When we wake up in the mornings I have around 45 minutes to get the little one up and ready for school. It usually takes me an hour. He likes to tell me he’s getting ready, but then when I check in he’s lying on the couch watching Nickelodeon. Then I usually have to take a second before we get out of the door to switch his shoes to the right feet.
After dropping him off and returning home I am relieved - that is until I see all of his school stuff on the kitchen table and realize his backpack is full of teddy bears and tonka trucks!

I have one child-who used to be easy for breakfast. Just give her some cereal! But then she grew up…AND turned into a teenager. Now, I tiptoe lightly into the abyss that she calls her room to wake the sleeping giant. Once..”get up sweetie”…”okay” she mumbles. Ten minutes later -no kid. Second time “Okay honey-time to get up!”…she mumbles again..”okay”. About thirty minutes later-with her eggs scrambled and getting cold on the breakfast table, I go BACK up the freaking stairs, open her door and say, “your eggs are getting cold.” “OKAY!!! I’M UP!!!” yells the BEAST! I retreat to the protective cover of my kitchen, she leaves for the bus as I lick my wounds. Gee…she still ate no breakfast, and I get to do it all over again tomorrow morning! It is a constant battle now that she’s older to get her to eat breakfast. I know she needs it-we all do-but she’s still developing into a young woman. Thank GOD Chik-Fil-A is open that early in the mornings!

My struggle is getting my kids to actually EAT before we need to leavethe house. We wate A Lot of food.
I don’t have too many problems getting my family out of bed. I wake them up singing and leave the light on in their rooms until they walk out (usually doesn’t take long). I try to have breakfast ready and waiting for them when they wonder in. I also have their outfits ready and sitting out for them (get together while they are eating).

Two at a time and he decides he’s not hungry either. All because you know you can’t reheat pancakes after they are covered in syrup. Oh, and J man begs for marshmellows. The cancer kid gets what he wants ;-).

Most mornings are pretty good, the struggle is when my youngest wakes up cranky. If I can find something to make him smile or laugh, I can usually change his mood for the better.
My daughter is three and doesn’t go to school yet, so we have a pretty leisurely routine - I am so lucky.
We get up about eight and go down for breakfast. Most days we have cold cereal, but sometimes oatmeal or eggs.
Then we head back upstairs to get dressed for the day.
We love to sing Good Morning - the song from Singin’ in the Rain or Wake Up, Wake Up from Lazytown.

My morning routine starts about 45 minutes before my 5 school aged children awaken.I make my coffee,”find my groove” and set the dinette up for breakfast, complete with their flintstones vitamins marking the place settings. As a rule, clothing (including all underclothes) have been approved and laid out the night before. The lunches and backpacks, school supplies, and shoes have also been prepared the night before. Doing this really saves time in my house because once my kids are up, mornings are crazy! Despite this routine, something always goes awry; somebody is frantically looking for something, the twins are fighting over a toothbrush, another child despises their breakfast/packed lunch/sibling, etc etc…

I used to struggle to get my kids to eat ANY breakfast each morning because they usually just wanted to grab a poptart as they head out the door.
Then I discovered that Capri Sun has enough sugar in it to prevent it from freezing into a solid, unbrreakable block, so I just freeze the packets overnight. The next morning I simply smack 2 frozen packages on the edge of the counter a couple times before cutting open the bottoms of the packages and dumping them into the blender on top of two chopped up bananas or a cup of berries of some kind and one package of plain yoghurt then hit the crush button. In less than 2 minutes I have healthy breakfast smoothies that I pour into plastic ziploc bags, insert a straw into it. My kids drink them at the bus stop, then fold the straw in half and put it in the ziploc bag before sealing it up. Breakfast is done, the trash is contained, and they’re ready for a full day of school.
You can also stick a frozen drink in with each lunch as an ice pack. It will keep the food cold and by lunchtime will be either completely thawed but still cold, or just a little bit slushy, which children love.

Our morning strategy is to actually have as little time possible to get ready. Too much time allows for straying from the objective, the kids start to play, get distracted and it all goes crazy. If we keep time to a minimum, everyone hurries and no one wants to be late!! It works for us.

I have to say my kids were pretty good in the morning. I did have everything planned & ready the night before. My coffe pot was set to brew 15 minutes before the alarm went off.
no matter how prepared I figure allow an extra ten minutes and always have extra things to grab for on the run when things happen like life and we run late so they are headed off to a good day with something in their belly.

The biggest problem we have is our older kids run out the door to catch the bus without eating breakfast.
I set the table the night before for breakfast. I also lay out the family outfits the night before. Usually all runs smoothly in the morning (so far anyway)!

My biggest struggle is getting our 9 year old together for the day. All the other kids, no problem, but the 9 year old is so crabby and nasty in the morning and rushing to get everyone out of the house is crazy with the extra stress.
Picking things to eat that are healthy and not just sugary cereal is hard.
No struggles here. Liz and Tristan wake up starving so they’ll eat anything I serve.

I swear by just getting up a little early. It takes the pressure off and you don’t have to rush around yourself or rush your kids. My kids also found it easier to wake up and get going when they weren’t being hustled all over in a hurry.
My kids are grown know but when they were younger I made sure they are before leaving
I have to get up early due to med schedule so I only hit the snooze button once.
I’m pretty organized about breakfast. The kids pick from a list on the fridge and I make it for them. I do most of the prep work the night before. For example. For my eggnog French Toast; I soak the bread overnight. So it ready for the hot skillet in the morning. Just pull it out of the fridge. Instead of oatmeal I make Polenta and fry it in the morning. Just cut it into squares and serve it with syrup (no sugar) and fresh fruit.

The timid one gets balky about going in her crate to eat and the picky one goes right in the crate but just sits there and stares at her food like she’s thinking, “What’s this? Oddly enough, when my kids were young and going to school, it was never really much of a problem. That was most likely because there were several years between them and only 2 of them, so I can’t claim any major magic in it! Even though they ate breakfast every morning, it was usually cereal and juice, with an occasional foray into leftover pizza. More time intensive breakfasts were for non-school days.

Does my 34 year old husband count as a kid? I have breakfast issues with him. I always cook a healthy, well-balanced breakfast but sometimes it’s a struggle to get him to eat it.
I feel so alone! We don’t struggle in the morning. My daughter gets up at 5 AM and starts primping. I get up at 6:21, drink enough coffee (made on a timer) to make my eyes open, take out a glass of orange juice I poured the night before, put out the breakfast muffins and vitamins that I got ready the night before, and heat up whatever is going into her thermos for lunch. By the time I get her lunchbox in her backpack, she’s eating. Then we get up and drive to the bus stop. I think the key is to do EVERYTHING the night before - paper signing, money giving, supply packing - EVERYTHING.
Well my morning time is MUCH simpler that one one printed just above. There is only my husband and I to consider. So he gets up at 5am and when he hears that I’M up (about 7am) he makes my oatmeal, and my cup of tea, and pours out my orange juice. What MORE can a woman ask for? By the way, we’ll be married SIXTY YEARS on June 26th this year!

I can get cereal in teh school age kids but it is the toddler I have issues with. If we are running errands I can pack a “snack box” for her and she eats fine but in the house on an at home day I think she is just too busy to want to eat much. I sure wish I could get some protein in her.

Morning struggles? Convincing an eighteen-year-old slugabed or a twenty-two-year-old person (who is incapable of sleeping before 4AM or waking before 2PM) to hurry up, we need to do STUFF?
I find that preparing breakfast the night before helps with independent people who need to get up and go (and frequently underestimate their ability to oversleep). However, on the weekends, making a delicious breakfast can “guilt” others out of bed and into a productive day!

My kids usually eat cereal for weekday breakfasts and muffins or bacon and eggs on the weekend. Usually no struggles at breakfast time since they are always “starving”!
No kids of my own, but I see my sister struggle!
Just moving around helps. I think I will try the “Orange Wake-Up” in the Capri Sun Sunrise drinks — it’s great it has Calcium.

It’s so good to read all these comments and realize that we’re not alone in our struggles to get out the door on time every morning. We do so well (kids get up by 7:30 by themselves, get dressed, I have lunches and backpacks packed the night before)… and then we hit breakfast. I have never seen such dawdlers! They are good eaters but can’t decide what they want and then take forever to eat it. We struggle with the whole process and half the time I have to tell my kids to stop eating and get moving so we’re not late. Sigh.

your morning routine sounds wild lol
Well, i raised two brothers after my mom died, so I know all about morning routine lol
Our main plan was preparing the night before..of course having all papers signed, bookbags ready, and their outfits selected and ready to go!
I would always get up early(most days) and prepare breakfast. We would do make ahead breakfast casseroles sometimes too so it was much faster in the morning.

My son is major PO-KEE and is definitely on his own time schedule. He takes twice as long to do everything (eat, brush teeth etc) that some days I give up and bring the breakfast with me in the car to eat on the way to school. It’s fun trying to do that when you have made grits and waffles!

No kids here but the animal kind. I let the dog out, feed the cat, feed the hummingbirds and then I do my workout, finally around 10:00 or later I get my breakfast. I’m wondering if any women out there have quiet days?
My morning routine is always different ….except for the hectic part.

The morning Breakfast routine is a STRUGGLE!! haha. WEEKDAYS have been deemed Cold cereal and that is that!! I have saved Weekends for hot Breakfasts otherwise we would never ever get out the door. There are not many choices because that gets us into trouble too!
The coffee pot is set up the night before and just put on time! If we are running really late.. Cold cereal goes into a zip to bag and my daughter takes that with her with a Capri-Sun on the bus or in the car! At least I know she ate BREAKFAST!!

Just getting them to put on clothes in the morning is always difficult! If I can get everyone out the door on time, that is a great morning!
As soon as my kids are up they are starving. I am dragged by the hands - bleary eyed and barely even watching where I’m going - to the kitchen where they jump up and down at my feet: “chex! kix! chex! CHEEEERRREEEEEOOOOHS!!!!” And then. They take two bites and flee from the scene. Leaving cereal to mush into a mashed mess. All wasted. And then, an hour later, usually when they hear ME making MY breakfast and needing a minute to MYSELF, I’ll hear… “I SOOO HUNGEEEE!!!” Throwing hands in the air here.
Breakfast… what’s breakfast? When do we have it? Why do we have it? Don’t tell my kids!!!!!
Comment
One of the biggest problems we have in the morning is getting my oldest son up! Other than that, everything else goes pretty smoothly.
Melanie wrote @ July 1st, 2009 at 11:09 pm
I am of the “Oh, yeah, we have to feed them” mindset, while the hubby is the one to actually bake muffins, make pancakes, waffles, etc. I keep trying to tell him he is spoiling them! They know where the cereal (that they begged for but NEVER eat) is, but hey, it’s his thing and I have nothing against them having breakfast, I’m just not a morning person (blame too many years in a cocktail waitress uniform!) I usually remember to grab a cereal bar on the way to wherever..but sometimes Daddy is off too early in the am, then I am stuck with these kids who expect a cooked breakfast, psssh, honestly. Something they might like that I can toss them when I hear them whine “Mommy, Daddy’s gone and he didn’t make breakfast” (besides a dirty look!) sounds like a winner to me!
I guess I am a lucky mom, my 17 year is in the phase were if it is in the house it is consumed, and since he does not speak to us because he is 17 we have no problems in the mornings with him. Our 8 year old, I guess that’s where the luck comes in, we just have spent so much time being grateful for his health that we make sure to pass out the hugs smiles and kisses, every chance we get. Sure he may be a bit “well attended to” some may say spoiled. But we do let provide him with healthy food choices and I can’t wait to try the new Capri Sun Sunrise. I guess after being a mom for 20 years the panic of getting everything “perfect” goes out the window and doing what important like coloring and saying hey dude your pretty awesome I really love you , seems to take the forefront. Being late for 2nd grade is NOT going to affect college being screamed at by a mom you remember as a stressed out psycho who wouldn’t let you drink your juice- well that might. Just a thought ladies. just saying, I was that lady.
If Capri Sun really knew what parents needed, they would have made this product in an aerosol can and formulate it so that it is absorbed through the skin. Convenience is not having to wait for the kids to actually imbibe the product but merely come in contact with it.
i would love to win this prize thank you

Kids are all grown, but they loved Capri Sun when they were growing up.
I resort to pre-planning and bribery. My daughter is required to choose her breakfast the night before–no changing. Then, she can watch TV while she eats–but only while she eats. If I see her stop chewing, it goes off for the rest of the morning!
I don’t have children (other than the four-footed kind), but I’d love a chance to win this.
A crying baby on one hip a late sleeping husband rushing out the door and a half asleep, not yet showered me trying to make breakfast. Fun, yet somehow it always seems to come together.
I have my son set all his own things for morning breakfast the night before. That way, he isn’t looking through cabinets for stuff at the last minute.

Our biggest struggle is to make sure that the kids are up and dressed in time to have a healthy breakfast!
I have 4 kids, ages 3, 6, 11, and 15. We have an exact routine we have followed for years. My struggle is with my 11 yr old. He doesn’t always like to get up when he’s supposed to, takes his time getting ready, then runs around looking for homework, trumpet, swim stuff. This happens quite often. He doesn’t always have enough time to eat breakfast. I try to have some take with you items for him just in case. Blessings

I generally have to force my daughter to eat breakfast… she is not a morning person (like her mom) and is grumpy and pokey in the a.m. My son, on the other hand, gets right up and eats like a horse!
I solved the problem by telling my boys if they get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, and get themselves on the bus on time, then they get an extra 30 minutes of video game time after school.
Extraordinarily slow eating children and not enough hours in the day. Having several different ages and stages of kids makes breakfast a little harder as well. I am not one for early rising so that add to the challenge of breakfast. Sad, isn’t it?

I struggle in the mornings too. In fact, we’re planning on having the boys eat breakfast at school next year to ensure they get a good meal! Where hubby and I are both driving quite a distance to work, , this will give us more time to get other things ready and out the door!
My kids wake up and before they even open their eyes they stumble to the kitchen and pour themselves a bowl of cereal. It is like feeding time at the zoo. It wouldn’t hurt to add some more nutrition to the mix.

I DON’T DRINK CAPRI SUN
Clothes, bookbags and lunchboxes are all ready the night before THe table is set with the breakfasr dishes and what there eating for breakfast is decided too If they want pancakes, waffles or french toast that I have premade and frozen they are taken out and put in the fridge to thaw out
getting them up is not to much problem and everything is all ready for them
None of us are morning people, so getting out of bed in time to grab a granola bar on the way out the door is tough. But if/when we do get up early enough, my kids can never agree on what they want! If one wants eggs, the other wants waffles. Getting them to agree sometimes seems harder than achieving peace in the middle east. But it keeps life interesting, at least.

I think that the hardest part of the morning is the fact that both my husband and myself are in the Army. There are days I am just getting ready for work and he is just getting home from working a midnight shift. When you have two young children who you are trying to get up and ready at the same time it can be so hectic. I like to buy fresh melons, apples, strawberries and grapes. At night I make separate bowls of everything cut up and put them in the refridgerator. Even the pickiest of eaters love the cold fresh fruit on a hot summer morning so this really helps all of us to sit down for a quickl breakfast. This and a glass of oj and we are ready to tackle the day!
no kids, so my AMs are the quite time of the day. A time to gather ones self for what ever the day throws at cha!

Sometimes cramming in breakfast is hard because we are such slow movers in the morning. They get that from my husband. He is record-setting slow in the mornings. We need food that is easy to grab and can be consumed in the car, if necessary!

I get everything ready like backpacks and lunches for school the night before school. My daughter struggles to get out of bed and is slow getting dressed so I get her up earlier so she have plenty of time to get ready.
My children are grown, but boy do I remember those school mornings. I’m tired just thinking about them. My mornings are less hectic now, I have my caffeine to wake up, go on my laptop and then get dressed.
Mornings are usually pretty smooth at our house. I wake the kids & tell them they can either eat breakfast or do chores. They appear at the table in the twinkling of an eye.
I do have kids, but they get fed ok because they won’t let me forget! The breakfast troubles here are with me…I never remember to eat!

If you dont like what I have made the you wait to till snack to eat. That lasted for a couple days when they would not eat breakfast. Now it is normally not a problem anymore
My problem is my older daughter changes what she likes to eat every week! One week she likes only powdered donuts for breakfast, the next week she will only eat chocolate muffins, and the next, waffles!

My kids need food in morning no matter what I can be dead and they still need there food. LOL
The hardest thing is getting my dughter to stop fussing withher hair and clothes long enough to actually eat something for breakfast. Normally, I wind up gibing her money to but a muffin from her school vending machine.

My main morning issue is my son is SO crabby and mouthy in the mornings! There’s literally NOTHING I can do to cheer him up or lighten his mood. He has to be up with enough time for him to “mellow out” in front of the tv for about 20-30 minutes while lounging over a breakfast.
If I rush him at all, he squeals and balks.
I’m going to be gray-headed before my time.

I don’t have children myself, but I do often babysit for my sister, and her children and I are usually equally unmotivated to get out of bed in the morning! To help us all, I have learned a few helpful techniques to get us up and running. For instance, I program the alarm clocks with CDs set to play our favorite songs to start us all off on the right note, I entice them with the smell of their favorite breakfast foods (usually French Toast works great) and entice myself with the smell of coffee brewing in my automatic coffee maker, and have them look forward to walking my two dogs in the morning, which we all love. This set of tips is almost failsafe, even on rainy days and weekends. Thanks for the giveaway!

My morning routine is always really hectic. Its a study in chaos. The best tip I have for making things less chaotic is an egg timer. I use it as a motivating tool especially for showers. If I didn’t regulate it I would pay millions in water bills. So it becomes kind of a game who can get their shower in under the timer.

Making sure my kids got enough sleep the night before helped avoid the waking up battles at my house. Also getting up 15 minutes earlier so we had a few extra minutes for those bad mornings seemed to help.
Slow risers, slow eaters, slow dressers…You name it, it’s happenin’ here…I LOVE the morning, but my kids…Well, that’s another story! I agree that there should be more portable breakfast-types of foods for the kids to carry in the car…& things that won’t crumble & tumble down between the seats!!
Generally, I don’t have a struggle in the morning. Sure, once in a while there’s a glitch but it’s a real glitch and we take a deep breath and work it out as best as we can.

I no longer have children at home but when I did it was easier for them than for me. I am so not a morning person. I would get up early and make breakfast for DH. He needed to be at work far earlier than the children needed to be at school. The kiddos and I are not big eaters early in the day so it was usually oatmeal in the winter and cold cereal during the warmer months. Early on they became responsible for getting their supplies together for school so that was usually done the night before. They always had to walk to school because we only had one car and it was only a couple of blocks so they would rush to meet their friends to walk together. All in all they did pretty well.

Breakfast bars and anything I can grab in 3 seconds is my best tip for taming a hectic morning.

The biggest issue in the morning in our house is timing due to only having one bathroom. We stagger wakeup times so we can all get our showers and get ready and be out the door in time.
My struggles with the morning BREAKFAST routine are… “Mom, I want this bowl, but N is using it!” And, “Mom, could you pour the milk, the jug is too full!” And, “Mom, I wanted the last of the MiniWheats, but A ate it all!” — I guess you get the idea!

My kids LOVE Capri Sun’s! They are my favorite portable kid drink because they don’t add artificial color. Healthy and they don’t leave stains if someone decides to squeeze one!
I have 3 young children and my morning routine generally starts around 4:00 am. I get up before anyone else, even our 2 dogs are still sleeping and I begin my routine with my Yoga poses. I find that when I accomplish this first thing every morning my mind and body gets prepared to handle everything else that is dished my way throughout the day, and there’s usually lots that crosses my path! Once my Yoga is done I walk the dogs. By then they are awake and chomping at the bit to get outside. By the time I come in from that, I have gotten my exercise in for the day and I feel energized and grounded and truly confident. I stagger the wake-up times with our 3 kids. My baby is usually almost always up with me first thing in the morning. Once she is up and fed, cleaned, dressed, etc. I get my middle daughter up, since she needs more individualized attention and help getting dressed and brushing their her teeth, hair, etc and I let my older son get up a little later, and this way when everyone gets to the breakfast table, they are all ready to eat. We even actually manage to get some good morning breakfast conversation in! Thank you so much for letting me share this with you all and for the opportunity to enter.
